Reticello Bowls

Reticello: Italian—glass with a small network.

My Reticello Bowls are a series of hand-blown and free-formed glass that take a contemporary approach to the traditional Italian “reticello” technique.

The reticello technique is made with “filigrana” or glass canes that are organized in a crisscross pattern to form a fine net that contains tiny air trap bubbles into a network of mathematical precision. It was first made popular in the 16th century on the island of Murano, Italy.
